When I'm learning about programming, I work my way through tutorials, and then it always gets to a point where what is being taught makes no sense to me. I try to go back a few tutorials and work my way back to the point at which things stopped making sense, but a lot of the time I still get stuck - there's too much I don't know. 

Over time, I build a knowledge and skill base so that, if I go back to the same series of tutorials I'm able to get a bit further.
