Sometimes other people think they understand your situation and your motivations better than you do. They're quite direct about it. They'll tell you what's 'really' going on with you, contrary to what you think. It's weird. They have it all figured out and they tell you your story in great detail, and if you disagree, they'll argue with you and insist they're right.
