Of course there is a sense in which healing is about getting back what you have lost, but I think it's much more about going where you have never been.
You come to a place where you are deprived of that from which you drew comfort, and you're forced to push yourself to live. You're in a world of discomfort and that's your new home. It's a much better place and you are strong and you are free, but you also have to become strong and free.
It's a good place, but it's strange to you, and you don't like it. You prefer the safety of the refuge you've built out of fear and pain. The only home you know is being demolished.
