Sometimes it's not relevant that you are right and the other person is wrong, or at least that you think you're right and they're wrong. Like, say if your boss or someone with experience in your field is giving you feedback and instruction about the way to do something. That's not the time to have a debate about it. Just do it their way. 

It's not that you can't ask questions or even have a back and forth and express your views, but ultimately, they're telling you how things should be done and you have to give that more weight than your own view of how things should be done. Arguing is so pointless. 

It's like, they're the ones who are going to mark your exam paper and they are giving you what they see as the right answers. Don't start arguing with their answers or debating the merits of the exam.
